Explain how a person is able to drink a soda using a drinking straw.
Answer
Drinking through a straw relies on the principle that fluids naturally move from areas of higher pressure to lower pressure. By creating a lower pressure inside the mouth, the pressure inside the straw is also reduced. Since the atmospheric pressure outside the straw is high is pushes the soda up the straw and into the mouth.
