What are Fault Steps?

Fault steps, also known as fault scarps or fault-line scarps, are geological features that result from the movement of tectonic plates along a fault line. They are essentially exposed, steep-sided cliffs or ridges that are created when one side of a fault moves vertically relative to the other side.
