Question

A form one student trying to determine the size of onion cells observed the following on a microscopes field of view.
Measuring Onion Cell Size
If the student observed 2 cells across the field of view calculate the length of one cell in micrometers.

Answer

Diameter of field of view = 3 mm
change to micrometers:3 x 1000 = 3000 µm
No of cells = 20 cells
Length of one cell = 3000/20
= 150 µm
