The diagram below represents gaseous exchange in the alveolus

Mention the path followed by gas y from alveolar space until it reaches the red blood cells.

Answer

Gas Y is Oxygen. Oxygen dissolves into moisture layer and diffuses across the thin epithelium of the capillary. It then combines with haemoglobin in red blood cells to form oxyhaemoglobin.
