Explain why excessive bleeding may lead to death of a patient.

Answer

Excess bleeding causes a decrease in blood volume leading to reduction in the total number of circulating red blood cells and hence a deficiency of oxygen supply to tissues. There is also reduction of nutrients supply since some dissolved substances are lost. Tissues also get dehydrated reducing their metabolic activity.
