Double Fertilization in Flowering Plants

Double fertilization is a unique reproductive process that occurs in flowering plants (angiosperms). It involves the fusion of two separate fertilization events within a single ovule, leading to the formation of both the embryo and endosperm.
Through double fertilization, one male nucleus fuses with the egg cell nucleus to form zygote (a diploid) while the other male nucleus fuses with the polar nuclei to form a triploid nuclei; (primary) endosperm.
