Question 1
By ray construction, show the position of the image and object in the diagram below.

Answer

Question 2
A plastic rod is rubbed with cotton and it is observed that the rod acquires a negative charge. The same cotton is brought near the cap of positively charged electroscope.
- State the observation made on the leaf of the electroscope.
- Explain the observation
Answer
- There is more divergence
- Cotton becomes positively charged like charges repel hence more divergence
Question 3
The diagrams in figure 2a and 2b below shows two circuits in which identical dry cells and identical bulbs are used.

Explain why the bulb in fig 2b will be brighter than both bulbs in fig 2a.
Answer
Combined internal resistance / cells in 2a is greater (cells in series) while combined internal
resistance of cells in 2b is smaller (cells in parallel ) hence b brighter.
Question 4
The diagram below shows two bar magnets X and Y and the magnetic pattern

- Identify B and C
- State with a reason which magnet X or Y is stronger
Answer
- B - north pole
C - north pole - Y is stronger than X, its magnetic flux stretches further and repels those of X away.
Question 5
An object is placed 15cm infront of convex lens of focal length 10cm. Calculate the image distance.
